Bluehost Review: Speed and Performance
If you’re searching for a reliable, fast, and affordable web hosting service, Bluehost is worth considering.
After testing them out for two weeks, I found Bluehost to be both reliable and fast – perfect for building your website or using them as a platform to start your online business.
In terms of speed and performance, Bluehost performed beyond my expectations.
“Studies show that a 1-second drop in website speed can decrease your conversion rate by 7%. A 3-second delay can cost you 50% of your traffic.”
It is essential to choose a fast website hosting company if you want your website to load quickly. In order to test the speed and performance of Bluehost, I created a test site to analyze these metrics.
My test site was created using WordPress with the “WordPress Default theme” installed by default. Also, I had added 30 dummy articles with lots of images in them. I did this to check whether I got any change in performance that Bluehost claims.
Here are the results with actual screenshots:
Analyzing With “WebPageTest”
It turned out to be a solid enough result for most people. In addition, test results showed that our test site passed Google’s Core Web Vitals metrics, which can help you improve your Google Page Experience score.
In addition, it takes less than two seconds to load fully, which is the same as one of the fastest premium hosting providers I have tested.
Even though my website did not use caching plugins or speed optimization tips, this result is impressive.
But testing my website on a single tool wouldn’t give the proper judgment, so I also tried different tools.
Analyzing With Pingdom Website Speed Test
Speed tests alone, however, are not enough since this test site did not have heavy traffic.
To see how Bluehost’s servers would react to increased traffic, I used a tool called K6 (formerly Load Impact) to send virtual users (VU) to our test site.
Gradually increasing the number of connections, I could determine how well the server could handle simultaneous requests from many concurrently connected clients.
Bluehost Traffic Test
The site’s active virtual users can be seen in the green line and server load time in the blue line. Although the traffic during peak times was high, the server load remained stable throughout the test.
It appears that Bluehost is a good option if you are looking for a quick website.
Bluehost Uptime Test
Furthermore, during my testing, there was no downtime recorded.
Many hosting companies promise 99.99% uptime. Using my account, I created an alert to monitor Uptime.
Below is a screenshot showing the Uptime of Bluehost’s servers.
Bluehost Server Response Time Test
You can test how fast a live website loads using tools like Pingdom. Additionally, images take much longer to load than plain text.
An additional tool called Bitcatcha helped me determine server response times more accurately and make this Bluehost Review more interesting. Without loading any data, you can test the server’s response time.
The benefits of this will be greatest if your target audience is in the US. You can change the server location if most of your users are located elsewhere.

There are various features that Bluehost provides. Some of the main features that they provide to help bloggers and local businesses are:

Bluehost Review: Pricing and Plans
Bluehost provides different Bluehost hosting plans for different needs. If you are a beginner, have a look at the plans:
- Shared hosting. Hosting a new website on shared hosting is a great choice for new sites with low traffic. The server resources of your website are shared with others in a shared hosting environment.
- Cloud hosting. It’s an upgrade to the shared hosting plan that provides more reliability. You can use multiple cloud servers, allowing your website to switch from one to another in case of a hardware failure or high traffic.
- WordPress hosting. A WordPress plan is designed specifically for WordPress-powered websites. In addition to running WordPress and protecting your site against common threats, it is optimized for running WordPress.
- Dedicated hosting server. With a dedicated hosting server, you will have exclusive access to all the resources of the server. It is a downside that you will have to manage the server independently.
Bluehost has the most customers for their Shared plan, VPS Hosting Plan, and Managed Hosting plan. Out of these, the most popular plan is Shared Hosting’s Basic Plan.
Bluehost Shared Hosting Plan
A brief explanation of Bluehost’s shared hosting plan includes:

- Plus: Unlimited websites and unmetered bandwidth are included in the Plus plan. You also get unlimited email accounts are also included. Starting at $5.45 per month for the first term, customers can choose all the features they want. If you are renewing the account, you will have to pay $13.99 per month.
- Choice Plus: Alternatively, you may choose Choice Plus, which includes all features of Choice Plus. You can choose from any of these plans if you are just starting your website. When your website grows, it is easy to upgrade your hosting plan.
Bluehost Online Store Plan
|12 Month Plan||$15.95/month||$32.95/month|
|36 Months Plan||$12.95/month||$24.95/month|
If you are thinking of starting an online store, then you can feel that (an online store) plan is less overwhelming to set up than Shared Hosting. This plan is specially designed for building an online store with minimum effort.
You can buy Online Store Plan with two pricing models, one for 12 months and the other for 36-month terms.
Bluehost Dedicated Hosting Plan
A dedicated hosting server offers its users the best level of safety, security, and control in contrast to shared hosting. Since these servers are independent of one another, each user has complete access to the server without interfering with or negatively influencing another user’s experience.
Every user is assured of reliable website performance, complete control, and privacy with Bluehost’s dedicated hosting.
As you will require the entire range of RAM and CPU to run your website efficiently, this package is perfect for consumers with heavy traffic websites.
Bluehost WordPress Hosting Plan
Bluehost and WordPress work together, and using its official WordPress hosting is the best method to manage your website. Bluehost designed this particular hosting plan with resources and tools that effortlessly work with WordPress to improve your website.
This hosting package is ideal for blogs, websites, or online businesses since it has the most WordPress compatibility.
Additionally, you may select from a distinctive selection of WordPress-specific themes and templates from the Bluehost Marketplace. With easy-to-install plugins and customization capabilities, you have complete creative flexibility.
Bluehost Review: Security
An SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate is the best indication of a secure website. This certificate assures users that the information they share on your site will be protected.
In addition, the padlock icon and HTTPS at the beginning of the web address indicate that the site is secured.
A free SSL certificate comes with every Bluehost plan so that visitors will never be warned your site is insecure. If you require more advanced security, you can purchase a premium SSL certificate for $49.99/year.
Managing the login process and providing sensitive information (such as credit card numbers) would be an excellent investment for eCommerce sites.
In addition to Spam Assassin protection, Bluehost offers hotlink protection and Secure Shell access.
While Bluehost includes more than enough security features to get your site up and running, you may want to invest in extra security if you plan to scale or sell online.
It’s essential to select suitable security measures from Bluehost because they can quickly turn into a hefty bill.
When you buy SiteLock Find (advanced security for eCommerce), it costs $23.88 annually rather than $1.99/month.
The amount still doesn’t seem like much, but it’s hard not to feel blindsided at checkout if you don’t know what to expect.
Bluehost Review: Customer Support
Occasionally, everyone needs assistance. Having assistance and support available when you need them is essential when choosing a web hosting company.
In addition to comprehensive Bluehost customer service, Bluehost maintains an extensive library of articles, downloadable guides, and video tutorials.
It is often helpful for beginners to perform a simple search for the most common questions and problems.
However, there may be times when you need further assistance from an individual.
With Bluehost, you can chat live or call them to get in touch with a support representative at any time. The technical support staff will be able to provide you with quick assistance whenever you need it.
The support system does not include a ticket system. As part of its recent move towards a more personal approach, Bluehost has discontinued ticket-based support.
Some users, however, will miss the support ticket option, which is particularly helpful if your issue can’t be resolved over a live chat or phone call.

Our experience with Bluehost suggests most users will be satisfied with their shared and dedicated hosting plans, as well as the extensive offering of WordPress hosting. With over 2 million sites globally, Bluehost is a leading hosting provider for WordPress-powered sites. The host is also one of the few WordPress-recommended hosting providers. So if you are starting a brand-new website, Bluehost is a great option.
Each of these services is offered by Bluehost, including Roundcube, Horde, and SquirrelMail. Most mainstream web hosts have the same three clients.
Yes, It is always possible to upgrade from your Bluehost dashboard or ask customer support to upgrade your plan anytime. However, when you upgrade Bluehost, you will not receive the discounted pricing, so it would be better if you pick the right plan from the start.
Among the many features of Bluehost Builder is its drag-and-drop interface, which offers hundreds of themes, images, and design tools.
Yes, For A and B compliance, Bluehost supports PCI compliance on all accounts. However, there are times when a scanning company discovers problems with certain aspects of a PCI scan.

Regular pricing for the starter plan with a 36-month term is $8.99/month. When the preceding 36 months are up, your account will be renewed at that rate. As it’s a prepayment rate, you’ll be charged for the whole 36 months.
The two hosting companies have much to offer, each with its advantages and disadvantages. To summarize, if you are looking for bargain prices, then Hostinger is your best option.
The answer is yes. The Bluehost WooCommerce hosting service is actually among the best. You can start an online store with their starter plan. In addition, when you make enough money to justify the upgrade, you’ll be able to explain the upgrade cost.
Small businesses and starter websites can use their shared hosting plans. The shared hosting plan managed to handle 100 virtual users with no problems during our stress tests. There is no problem handling sudden traffic spikes in these plans. Although they have pretty limited server resources, they still provide a good service. Your hosting plan will need to be upgraded if you anticipate high traffic.
The Bluehost payment system accepts credit cards, but the checkout process allows you to display more payment options, including PayPal if you choose.
This massive, 50,000-square-foot data center is BlueHost’s primary data center located in the United States.
I recommend starting with the basic plan if you just start with your website, blog, or online store. If you need to upgrade later, you can always do so.
