At the beginning of my blogging journey, my biggest concern was visibility. I was focused on how to get my blog noticed by Google, people searching on the web, and everyone on social media. The big question is how to get your blog noticed by your audience and keep them coming back. Below I have some ways that you can do this.
The first time that I saw one of my articles on page 1 on Google the feeling I had was unforgettable. I felt an overwhelming sense of pride and excitement. I guarantee you will feel something similar when it happens to you.
1. Optimize Your Content for Search Engines
For those of you who don’t know, search engine optimization is also known as SEO. According to Search Engine Land, “SEO stands for “search engine optimization.”
It is the process of getting traffic from the “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” search results on search engines.” For your website to be successful you need to incorporate SEO techniques to drive your rankings to the top. Below I will review what I believe to be the top 5 search engine optimization strategies that you can use to get your page ranked on page one of the search engines
Search engine optimization incorporates creative and technical features to improve rankings in the search engines and drive traffic to your domain or website.
Your website needs to be structured in a way that search engines can understand; that is where the search engine optimization of your website comes in.
A. Understand Your Niche/Audience
Understanding your audience is the first step towards success in your chosen niche. If you don’t understand what your audience wants or needs, you will have a hard time providing a resolution to their problems which is usually why they are online in the first place. They are looking for a solution to a problem.
B. Optimize Your Site for Google RankBrain
Getting your website or domain optimized for Google Rankbrain is essential for ranking as this is the third-most important search ranking factor for web pages, right along with content and links.
Google Rankbrain is a machine-learning artificial intelligence system that helps process Google’s search results. Rankbrain is a part of Google’s search algorithm Hummingbird and does not handle all its searches.
Optimizing your site for RankBrain is difficult but it isn’t impossible. A few things you can do are:
- Create enticing snippets – Improving organic click-through rates are key to success. Meta descriptions and page titles need to consist of user needs. Make sure they stand out in the search results.
- Mirror Authoritative Websites – Try modeling your site and its contents after domains that are recognized as trustworthy by Google.
- Write Conversationally – Provide a better user experience, write with people, not computers in mind. Your content needs to sound natural and human.
- Create Posts With Targeted Keywords as Well as Their Variations – When writing a post ensure that you are targeting your keywords and well as other variations and related keywords.
C. Master Keyword Research
Mastering keyword research is essential to your online marketing success. A keyword is a phrase or a word that people search for in search engines; Google, Bing, and Yahoo.
Every post that you make should target a keyword. That means if you choose your keyword correctly, you have a chance to rank in the search engines for each keyword which leads to getting traffic to your website.
There are a couple of items in the keyword research tool that are imperative to be able to rank, they are as follows:
- Average searches per month should be over 100
- SEO should be as close to 100 as possible. This number is on a scale from 1-100.
- QSR under 100 – This is the number of websites competing for the specific keyword, the lower the number the better.
Another thing that you should be doing is checking to see what keywords your competition is using. You can do this at SpyFu.
In short, on-page SEO requires you to:
- Put targeted keyword in title and URL
- Put targeted keyword in alt text field in images
- Use targeted keyword in meta description and throughout the post
Be sure that your targeted keyword is in the first and last paragraphs of your post.
D. Content – Invaluable/Engaging Content
The most important part of your website is the content; without great content, you can hang up any kind of success that you are striving for. Content is king!
The content of any post or article needs to be valuable to your audience. There are key elements that need to be satisfied with your content, they are as follow:
- Answer a question
- Be relevant
- Solve a problem
E. Internal/External Linking
Internal linking is a very important factor for the rank of your site; however, it is one that is overlooked. When I first started my blog, I was not even aware of what internal linking was or how important it is.
Internal links are links that go from one page to another on the same website or domain. There are a couple of different benefits to internal linking; allow navigation of the website, establish information hierarchy, and spreads ranking power around the given website.
External links are links that link out to another website or domain. You want to make sure that the domain that you are linking to has high domain authority. This will lend more credibility to your website or domain.
2. Make Your Blog Posts Shareable
When you are designing your website make sure you position your social sharing buttons in a place that makes it easy for your visitors to share your blog posts.
I know I have read posts that I wanted to share, however, when I realized it was not convenient to do so I moved on. Don’t let this happen to you. To ensure your content is shared across social media by your site visitors:
- Install a plugin for social media icons
- Position your social icons at the end of each post
- Install Pin It button to the images on your site
Some plugins have settings that can be customized to give your social button option such as follow or click to tweet. Take advantage of these options.
3. Publish Your Blog Post Regularly
Another excellent way to get your blog noticed is to post articles on your blog on a consistent basis. Being consistent is crucial to the success of your online business. Your readers will come to depend on your consistency so if there is a break in your post cycle you will lose the trust of your audience.
The number of posts that you produce will depend on what works for you. Regardless of its 2 or 3 posts a week stick to your schedule. Your audience will thank you for it by coming back and staying loyal.
We all know “content is king” so make sure that your content is always high quality. This should go without saying, however, I said it anyway just in case.
4. Share Your Blog Posts and Case Studies on Social Media
One of the best ways on how to get your blog noticed is to share your content on whichever social media platforms that you use. This should be a no-brainer but there are still many online marketers that use very little social media.
Depending on your niche, one social media platform may work better for you than others. There is no need to use them all, however the more the merrier.
You can easily share your blog content with the help of a social media management tool. This tool will help you automate the sharing process. With a social media management tool, you can: schedule posts, like and follow, and submit comments.
You have spent so much time creating your content, make sure you share it with the world! I know someone else can benefit from your knowledge.
5. Use Conversational Language
When you are writing your posts, remember that you are not writing an essay for your English Professor. You are talking to your audience, they are real people and they are not reading your post looking for grammar errors.
No, they are reading your post for the message in your content so make sure that you communicate it effectively. Write as if you are speaking to your friend, not your Professor.
This does not mean not pay attention to your grammar at all. You do want to spell correctly and use correct punctuation, or you will lose credibility with your audience. Relax and have fun delivering your message.
6. Integrate Videos in Your Blog Posts
When thinking of how to get your blog noticed by your peers you can’t forget the power of videos. If you do you are leaving out many people that prefer to get their information through videos who can’t stand to read long posts.
Integrating videos into your marketing strategy is crucial to your success. I am not saying that you can’t be successful without it, but why leave money on the table?
You can start making your own videos for free on Screencast-O-Matic and YouTube for starters. You can also record videos live on Facebook or Instagram.
7. Join Online Forums, Blogs and Groups
The last strategy that I am going to discuss for you to get your blog noticed by those on the internet is to join online forums and groups.
These are great places to network with others in your field.
It is important to be active in these communities and be sure that you are in the same ones as the market you’re targeting. Contributing valuable information to these forums on a regular basis will eventually lead to the other members checking out your content.

The point of having a blog or website is useless unless you have an audience to visit your site. It is crucial to know how to get your blog noticed by people on various platforms such as search engines Google, Bing, Yahoo, social media platforms, etc.
I have given you some starting points above, however, this list is not all-inclusive. Have fun whatever you do. Personally, I enjoy helping others, and if there is information that I have and can share to accomplish this I then so be it.
